After the memorial service in Staten Island, CNN newsman Anderson Cooper turns to social media to pay tribute to his actress/author mother, gushing that her love was her greatest gift to him.

AceShowbiz - Late actress, author, and fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt has been laid to rest in New York City.

The 95-year-old passed away on Monday morning, June 17, following a battle with stomach cancer, and on Tuesday, she was remembered at a funeral in Staten Island.

Following the memorial, she was buried at a private family cemetery beside her late husband, Wyatt Cooper, and her son, Carter Cooper, who committed suicide in 1988, aged 23.

Carter's brother, CNN newsman Anderson Cooper, was among the mourners at the funeral as he bid a final farewell to his beloved mother.

He has since taken to Instagram to pay a touching tribute to her.

Alongside a series of photos of Vanderbilt over the years, including one close-up image of Anderson clasping his mother's hand during her final days, he wrote, "In the end, after all else is stripped away, there is only love."

"My mom believed in love more than anyone. It was her guide, her solace, it's what drove her, and in her final moments, it is what surrounded her. 'i love you, you know that,' she would say to me, and i did, i knew it from the moment i was born, and i will know it till the moment i die. It was her greatest gift to me."

Anderson's sweet social media post comes a day after the news of her passing was announced on CNN. Cooper also narrated a film obituary of his mother's life, in which he called her "the strongest person I ever met," "an extraordinary mum" and "an incredible woman."
