While the 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' star is attached to portray the DC Comics supervillain and to serve as producer, the 'Jungle Cruise' director is in negotiations to helm the project.

AceShowbiz - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is preparing to reunite with filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra for his planned comic book blockbuster "Black Adam".

The "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" star has been attached to portray the DC Comics supervillain for the last few years, and was initially due to make his debut as the character in "Shazam!", which hit theatres earlier this year.

However, that all changed in 2017 as franchise officials decided to introduce Johnson as Black Adam, Shazam's nemesis, in a standalone movie, and now plans are finally moving forward, with Collet-Serra reportedly in negotiations to direct, according to The Observer.

If he signs on, it will reteam him with Johnson, his leading man on forthcoming Disney film "Jungle Cruise", which recently wrapped production.

Johnson will also serve as one of the producers on "Black Adam", just as he did with "Shazam!".
