Having been charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse following an arrest in 2017, the former 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' actor is served with a protective order valid through until May 2022.

AceShowbiz - Actor Nicholas Brendon pleaded not guilty to a felony domestic violence charge on Monday, May 13.

The former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actor was officially charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse earlier in May following an arrest in 2017, and his arraignment took place at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, California on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the 48-year-old entered a not guilty plea and he was slapped with a protective order valid through until May 2022. Details about the order protecting Jane Doe were not made publicly available, according to the City News Service.

Palm Springs police Sgt. William Hutchinson said Brendon was arrested and charged for allegedly attacking his girlfriend in the bar of The Saguaro Hotel in Palm Springs in October 2017. Hutchinson claims Brendon and his partner got into an argument and he allegedly yanked her arm and "violently" pulled her by her hair.

The "Criminal Minds" actor, who has been candid about his battles with depression, alcoholism and substance abuse, could face up to four years in state prison if convicted.

Brendon is due back in court in July 17 for a felony settlement conference.
