Remaining under doctors' care following his April 27 health scare, the 'Beauty and the Beast' hitmaker is 'improving rapidly' and is expected to make a full recovery.

AceShowbiz - U.S. singer Peabo Bryson has cancelled a string of concerts as he continues to recover from a recent heart attack.

The 68-year-old soul star was hospitalised following the health scare last Saturday, April 27, and although he remains under doctors' care, his representative confirms he is getting better, and is expected to make a full recovery.

"Mr. Bryson is still listed in stable condition and is improving rapidly," his spokesperson shares in a statement.

The representative adds that the musician's family has continued to ask for privacy, "but extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation to friends and fans for the outpour of love and support expressed throughout this experience".

In order to rest and focus on his health, Bryson has been forced to cancel several shows which were due to take place this month, including two in Akron, Ohio this weekend (May 03-05).

Bryson is a two-time Grammy winner known for hits such as "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World".
