AceShowbiz - Fans of "Game of Thrones" were shocked when Arya Stark's (Maisie Williams) and Gendry's (Joe Dempsie) relationship took a sexual turn in the latest episode of the eighth and final season of the hit HBO series. [SPOILER ALERT!] In the second episode, the two characters were seen having a steamy sex scene before the war was coming. However, George R.R. Martin, the author of "A Song of Ice and Fire" which the show is based on, has revealed that Arya was originally planned to have a storyline with other characters.

In the original outline for his novel, Martin, who has never shied away from incest in his works, planned to have Arya and his brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) falling in love. "It will lead to a bitter estrangement between Jon and Bran Arya will be more forgiving … until she realizes, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night's Watch, sworn to celibacy," Martin wrote in the outline.

The outline continued, "Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy, until the secret of Jon's true parentage is finally revealed in the last book."

Additionally, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) was also set to fall in love with Arya and made him a bitter rival of Jon. "Exiled, Tyrion will change sides, making common cause with the surviving Starks to bring his brother down, and falling helplessly in love with Arya Stark while he's at it. His passion is, alas, un-reciprocated, but no less intense for that, and it will lead to a deadly rivalry between Tyrion and Jon Snow," Martin wrote.

In related news, Maisie's co-star Sophie Turner took to Instagram to tease Arya and Gendry's sex scene in the April 21 episode. "In honor of Easter, I guess 'Game of Thrones' wanted the storyline to have a little Easter bunny hop-hop-hopping into that p***y," said the Sansa Stark depicter, who is currently on vacation with fiance Joe Jonas. "And that's the tea."

"Game of Thrones" season 8 airs on Sundays at 9 P.M. on HBO.
