AceShowbiz - The highly-anticipated Woodstock 50 festival has suffered a setback after organisers were forced to postpone the start of ticket sales.
Jay-Z, The Killers, and Dead & Company were confirmed as headliners for the August event last month (March 2019), but on Friday, April 19, it emerged that passes will no longer be going on sale as planned on Monday.
No reason was given for the delay, prompting speculation the big concert, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the famed first festival in New York back in 1969, would be cancelled.
However, original Woodstock organiser Michael Lang has dismissed the unfounded gossip.
"Woodstock is a phenomenon that for 50 years has drawn attention to its principles and also the rumours that can be attached to that attention," he told Billboard.com, insisting fears of the three-day gig's demise were "just more rumours."
A Pitchfork report suggests the ticket sale postponement may be due to a permit problem, as festival officials are still waiting for bosses at the New York State Department of Health (DOH) to make a decision on their request for a mass gathering permit.
Other artists on the bill for Woodstock 50 in Watkins Glen include Chance The Rapper, The Black Keys, Robert Plant, Halsey, Imagine Dragons, and Miley Cyrus.
They are due to hit the stage from 16 to 18 August - exactly 50 years to the date of the original Woodstock.
