Wendy Williams Reveals Plans With Her Son Following Kevin Hunter Divorce

During Hot Topics segment in a new episode of 'The Wendy Williams' show, the TV personality revealed that she had 'a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son,' Kevin Jr.

AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams is surely a tough woman. "The Wendy Williams Show" host tackled her own divorce from Kevin Hunter to kick off the Hot Topics segment in the Monday, April 15 episode of the show.

The host, who filed for divorce from her husband of 22 years in New Jersey last week, opened up about her future plans following the split. The popular segment, which always sees her discussing hot news about celebs and their privates lives, has its slogan which reads, "Their business is our business."

With that, Wendy said in the recent episode, "It's crazy 'cause now my business is your business." The 54-year-old added, "It's kind of funny. Turnabout's a fair game, I get it."

During the episode, the TV personality revealed that she had "a whole new life that I planned for myself and my son," Kevin Jr. whom she shared with Kevin. "Believe me you, when you lay in a room with no TV and four gray walls all day and no telephone at your ready."

"This is my life in the sober house," she continued saying. "It's one of the best things, honestly, that could have ever happened to me."

"You wear a different mask when you're out here," she said. "Everybody has things in their life that they're embarrassed to share the world, or they're frightened to share with the world, or they're not ready to share with the world. Addressing my sobriety, my addiction, head-on has really helped me sort out every single compartment of my life."

However, Wendy shared that she and her 19-year-old son, who is also an alcoholic, had a commitment "to come out of here better, stronger and faster than ever."

Wendy also said that she had received some support from people surrounding her as some girl friends, including two who act as her sober coaches, came over to the house this past weekend to support her.

Wendy filed for divorce from Kevin, her husband of two decades, on Thursday, April 11, just hours before she filmed that day's episode of her show. Following the divorce, a personal representative of Wendy said in a statement, "Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time. Kevin is supportive of Wendy and they are working through this process together. No additional comment will be provided at this time."

"Wendy and her family have been a part of Debmar-Mercury for over 10 years," a rep for her show said in a separate statement. "We respect their privacy regarding personal matters. As always, we remain committed to bringing an entertaining and topical show to our viewers."
