AceShowbiz - Because it is hard to find a song that curvaceous women can relate to, Lizzo has decided to make one herself. Teaming up with Missy Elliott, the two rap stars unveiled their collaborative track entitled "Tempo" on Wednesday, March 20.
Backed by aggressive guitar lick, Lizzo seductively delivers verses which are pretty much an ode to plus size girls. "Get on this rise, baby, you gon' have to buckle up/ Thick thighs save lives, call me little buttercup/ All means necessary/ My a** is not an accessory," the Atlantic Records rapper rhymes before Missy amps up the energy by offering a raucous, hype delivery.
"All the thick girls down on the flrrr/ Ice on my neck like brrr/ I'm big-boned with nice curves," the Grammy-winning female emcee raps. "Thick girl, split/ Get a bag, get rich/ Hair done, fixed/ If you see a hater, tell him quit." Also featured in the song is Lizzo's flute skill, a talent that she has after joining a marching band for several years.
Following the release of "Tempo", Lizzo took to Instagram to pay homage to her collaborator, recalling the time when they first met. "2 years ago I met my hero. I played her music. She threw beats at me as I freestyles. It was fun and life changing," she wrote alongside several selfies of her with the veteran star. "Missy, you are the inspiration of my entire career."
She continued, "You made this chubby, weird, black girl believe that ANYTHING was possible. And now we have a BANGER together -- till this day you continue to inspire me to make my dreams come true. Now go f**k it up to the #TEMPO and STREAM OUR SONG!!!!! Love you."
"Tempo" will be included on Lizzo's upcoming album "Cuz I Love You" that is set to hit the stores on April 19.
