The trailer reintroduces the murderous doll Chucky, who apparently gets upgraded with high-tech feature.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for "Child's Play" remake is released online after it debuted in theaters before "The Prodigy". The video opens as a sort of advertisement for Buddi dolls, produced by Kaslan Corporation, which apparently equips the dolls with high-tech feature.
Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother, gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) one of the dolls. It immediately scans Andy's face. Not giving a full look at the killer doll, the video shows cryptic references to Chucky's iconic outfit and his major weapon, a kitchen knife.

As the plot of the previous movies unspools, Chucky soon brings terror to the family he lives with and those around him. A person is found bloody and lying lifeless on the street, someone is falling from a rooftop and a woman gets hit by a car, and it's suffice to say that Chucky is behind these freaky things.

The video culminates with a look at Karen bloody with a rope tied around her neck. Seeing this, Andy screams in horror at what Chucky is about to do to his mother.

The "Child's Play" remake is directed by Lars Klevberg from a script provided by Tyler Burton Smith. It is produced by Seth Graham-Smith and David Katzenberg, who were also behind 2017's mega hit horror movie "It". The upcoming slasher film also stars Brian Tyree Henry and Tim Matheson. It is set to be unleashed in U.S. theaters on June 21.
Following the release of the trailer, Jennifer Tilly, who voiced killer doll Tiffany in the previous "Chucky" movies, expressed her disinterest in the remake. "New 'Chucky' movie?" she wrote on Twitter. "Ummm...no. Tiffany and I are gonna sit this one out. #NotmyChucky."

Don Mancini, who created the story and the character, previously had also expressed his disapproval of the new movie. He and longtime franchise producer David Kirschner declined the offer to become executive producers on the remake over concern that the film would "muddy" the brand.
It's unclear that they meant with "muddy," but as the trailer suggests, the remake would feature a major twist that differs the origin of Chucky's siniter streak to the one in the original film.
