The 'You Belong with Me' songstress posts on Instagram a selfie of herself next to a white sign which features her character's name.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift has apparently begun filming "Cats" movie. The 29-year-old singer/actress teased her role in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the classic musical with an on-set picture which she shared on Instagram on Tuesday, January 22.

In the image, the country-turned-pop superstar is seen posing next to a white sign which features her character's name, Bombalurina. She's wearing a denim jacket on top of a white shirt, which is a big hint that she hasn't slipped into her character's costume in the picture. "Meow," she simply captioned it.

Taylor also took to Instagram Stories to share videos from the set in London, which was snowing on Tuesday. "So I am on set for 'Cats' and it is fully snowing," she said in one video as snowflakes fell on her hair. She also posted a video of her running in the snow, captioning it, "Always too excited."

Bombalurina is one of the main female characters in "Cats". She is portrayed as a flirtatious red adult female cat with a white chest and black spots and marks. She has a notable solo in the song "Macavity the Mystery Cat".

The movie is based on Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit stage musical, which premiered in London in 1981. The upcoming movie has a star-studded cast, which includes Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson and Ian McKellen. Jennifer will take the lead role as Grizabella, the former glamor cat who falls on hard times and gets to sing about it in showstopper "Memory".

Tom Hooper ("Les Miserables") is serving behind the lens, with the script from "Billy Elliot" writer Lee Hall. A release date for the movie has not been announced.

Taylor is no stranger to acting, having starred in Garry Marshall's star-studded romantic comedy film "Valentine's Day" and "The Giver" alongside Jeff Bridges.
