Guy Ritchie, who directs the movie, previously shared his vision for Genie to Entertainment Weekly. "I wanted a muscular 1970s dad," he said. "He was big enough to feel like a force - not so muscular that he looked like he was counting his calories, but formidable enough to look like you knew when he was in the room."

As for Genie's characterization, he revealed that the character is more self-aware in his film, "I like the fact that our Genie has an ego and is a little bit vain and he cares about how he's presented because he's been doing this for a very long time," the British filmmaker shared.

A live-action retelling of the 1992 animated film, "Aladdin" stars Mena Massoud as the title character, Naomi Scott as his love interest Princess Jasmine, Marwan Kenzari as the villainous Jafar and Navid Negahban as Jasmine's father, The Sultan. The movie also features some new characters, Dalia who is portrayed by Nasim Pedrad and Prince Anders (Billy Magnussen), a suitor and potential husband for Princess Jasmine from the kingdom of Scanland.

The new "Aladdin" movie will head into theaters across the nation on May 24.
