AceShowbiz - Singer Jacquees recently made headlines after he crowned himself as the king of R&B, sparking outrage from social media who didn't think that the singer is suitable for the title. Among those who aren't agree are John Legend and Kehlani.
It all started when Jacquees shared on Instagram over the weekend a video of him making the bold proclamation. "I just wanna let everybody know that I'm the king of R&B right now," the Cash Money singer said in the clip. "For this generation, I understand who done came and who done did that and that and that, but now it's my time, Jacquees the king of R&B."
Even though Jacquees certainly has a bright future ahead of him, many slammed him for claiming so as he himself has yet to have his top ten album. Some of his fellow musicians also weighed in on the issue, with the likes of Trey Songz and Ty Dolla $ign reacting with laughing emojis to seemingly make fun of his claim.
Meanwhile, EGOT winner John didn't think there's a king of R&B right now. "Honestly I don't think there is a king of r&b right now. Anyone consistently dominating the charts, selling out arenas, etc, a la Usher at his prime. Not a comment on quality. I think the throne is open right now," he said on Twitter, admitting that Bruno Mars and The Weeknd might be suitable for the title. "Part of me is talking myself into saying Bruno or the Weeknd but I'm not sure they neatly fit into the genre."

His wife Chrissy Teigen also had a say on the matter, taking this as a chance to troll the "Love Me Now" singer. "It leaves me asking what kind of music does John make? His he left out of this? (jokes welcome, of course)" she tweeted. Meanwhile, Kehlani simply dubbed Beyonce Knowles as the king of R&B, not Jacquees.
the heated debate on my timeline is who is the current king of r&b. It’s a doozy of a thread and hilarious. but it leaves me asking what kind of music does john make? his he left out of this? (jokes welcome, of course)
