In the follow-up to the 2017 sleeper hit, Tree Gelbman wakes up on her worst day again with more lives at stake.

AceShowbiz - Death is coming on next Valentine's Day. Universal Studios and Blumhouse have released the first trailer for "Happy Death Day 2U", bringing back the masked killer who keeps hunting down Theresa "Tree" Gelbman (Jessica Rothe).

The video opens with Tree "living the better version" of her life, but that doesn't last long. After Ryan Phan (Phi Vu) shares his concern about having a similar dejavu, Tree feels uneasy when she's followed by someone wearing a mask of the campus mascot, who turns out to be the killer.

That begins the worst day of her life again, with Tree being stuck in the same time loop, but this time everything is different. The killer targets more people, including Ryan and Samar Ghosh (Suraj Sharma), forcing Tree to kill herself over and over again to save them.

In the follow-up to Blumhouse's ("Split", "Get Out", "The Purge" series) surprise 2017 smash hit of riveting, repeating twists and comic turns, our hero Tree Gelbman discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead.

Jason Blum once again produces and Christopher Landon returns to write and direct this next chapter, while "Happy Death Day" executive producers Angela Mancuso and John Baldecchi are newly joined by EP Samson Mucke ("Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse").

Israel Broussard returns as Tree's love interest Carter Davis, joined by Sarah Yarkin, Ruby Modine and Rachel Matthews in the cast. The upcoming slasher film is set for February 14, 2019 release in the United States.

The first movie became a surprise hit, grossing $122 million worldwide on a $4.8 million budget with relatively unknown cast members. It also received generally positive reviews from critics and was described as "Groundhog Day" meets "Scream".
