A young son of a cop embarks on a mission to find his missing father with a Pokemon which can talk and is voiced by the 'Deadpool' star.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds is going to shed your imagination of a cute Pokemon in the first trailer for "Pokemon Detective Pikachu". The "Deadpool" actor brings the titular character to life in Warner Bros.' upcoming live-action film that features a mix of human characters and CGI Pokemon.

Unlike what is commonly understood that he could only say "Pika Pika", Reynolds' Pikachu can talk. The catch is, only Justice Smith's Tim Goodman who can understand it, making them both surprised.

Once aspired to be a Pokemon trailer, Tim tries to avoid the same path that was taken by his cop father. "I don't need a Pokemon. Period," Tim stubbornly says. But he can't dodge his fate to be with Pikachu, who insists that he's the "best bet" to find his missing father.

The two eventually bond during their adventure, with Tim seen putting the detective hat on Pikachu's head in one sweet moment. "There's magic. It brought us together. And that magic is called hope," Pikachu says with full of spirit.

The next scene shows the duo hilariously interrogating and threatening Mr. Mime to no avail. The video also offers a glimpse of other Pokemon characters like Jigglypuff, Psyduck and Squirtle who is featured on a "missing" poster.

Posting the trailer on his Twitter account, Reynolds pokes fun at his role in the movie, "I think we all knew I'd wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn't think it'd be this soon."

Set in Ryme City, the story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry's former Pokemon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.

Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City-a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokemon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world-they encounter a diverse cast of Pokemon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokemon universe.

The film also stars Bill Nighy, Kathryn Newton, Suki Waterhouse, Ken Watanabe and Rita Ora. Directed by Rob Letterman, it is set to be unleashed in theaters across the nation on May 10, 2019.
