AceShowbiz - Julia Roberts didn't intend to make a statement with her hairy armpits at the "Notting Hill" premiere in 1999.
Opening up about the incident, where she showed off her unshaven pits at the London opening of the romcom, Julia told Busy Philipps on her new show "Busy Tonight" on Sunday night (November 04) that she didn't realise the red sequinned Dolce & Gabbana dress, which featured capped sleeves, revealed so much.
"The picture is vivid in my mind actually, from that, from that moment. It wasn't...ya know...I think I just hadn't really calculated my, my sleeve length and the waving, and how those two things would go together and reveal personal things about me," she recalled. "So, it wasn't so much a statement as it's just part of the statement I make as a human on the planet, for myself."
Busy, 39, had told the Oscar-winning actress she had assumed that the skipped shaving session was a punk rock and cool move when she was younger, but didn't seem disappointed when Julia explained what had actually happened.
"Which is very dope and I'm here for it," she laughed.
Elsewhere in the chat, Busy praised Julia's Instagram debut in June 2018, especially when the 51-year-old clapped back at a user who critiqued her nail polish colour in September.
"I did not mean to clap back, I'd never heard the words clap back," she laughed. "I was just being amusing - something stumbled into my eyeball range and I was like, 'Oh.' And I was just being funny and a little school teachery (by) correcting. But then people were like, 'Clap back!' For me, I'm an actor, clapping is my sustenance!".
