An eyewitness shares that the 'Trumbo' actor made the remark about his fall from grace when opening his comedy routine at a low-key show in New York City.

AceShowbiz - Louis C.K. reportedly lost a staggering $35 million (£26.6 million) in an hour as his sex scandal hit headlines last year, according to the disgraced comedian himself.

"The Secret Life of Pets" star found his reputation in ruins last November (17), when a New York Times expose was published, accusing him of exposing himself and masturbating in front of a number of women in the entertainment industry.

Louis subsequently confessed the claims were all true and expressed remorse for his behaviour, as he announced he would be taking a step back from the limelight.

Since August, the actor has started to attempt a comeback, performing impromptu stand-up gigs in and around New York City, and at his latest low-key show at the West Side Comedy Club last week, ends October 12, he finally addressed his fall from grace onstage as he opened his set.

"It's been a weird year," the 51 year old admitted, according to Laughspin.com.

According to an eyewitness, Louis claimed he had "been to hell and back" as he dealt with the fall out from his bad behaviour, which included the cancellation of his "I Love You, Daddy" film release, the loss of a Netflix stand-up special, and being dropped by all of his professional representatives.

"I lost $35 million in an hour," he allegedly told the audience, which gave Louis' set mixed reviews.

His candid comments about the controversy appear to mark a change in Louis' approach to his comedy routines in light of his scandal, as he previously failed to address the headline-grabbing incidents when he first returned to the stage over the summer, and even reportedly included one controversial quip regarding a rape whistle.
