The new sneak-peek video reveals the villains and features Optimus Prime, who tells the titular Autobot its mission on earth.

AceShowbiz - Here's a new sneak peek at "Bumblebee". Paramount Pictures has released a new official trailer for the movie, which serves as a prequel to 2007's "Transformers". The video opens with a look at Bumblebee's first encounter with its human companion, Charlie Watson, played by Hailee Steinfeld.

Set in 1987, the film sees Charlie discovering Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken, in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. She purchases the yellow VW bug on her birthday, and quickly learns that it's not an ordinary car.

Charlie tries to teach Bumblebee some skills that would help it adjust to life on earth, but soon the yellow Autobot finds himself in danger as the Decepticons tell the authorities that Bumblebee is a threat to earth. Forced to defend himself, Bumblebee needs his only "family", Charlie, to help him.

But it's not until he's taken down that Bumblebee fights back. The trailer features Shatter (Angela Bassett), Dropkick (Justin Theroux) and Blitzwing (David Sobolov) as the villains (Decepticons). Optimus Prime is featured as a hologram, telling Bumblebee that it needs to protect the people of earth from a war.

Peter Cullen returns as the voice of Optimus Prime. John Cena and John Ortiz star as agents of Sector 7, who are teaming up with the Decepticons to fight Bumblebee. Jorge Lendeborg Jr. plays Charlie's friend, Memo, while Pamela Adlon portrays Charlie's mother. Jess Harnell also joins the cast as the voice of Barricade, a Decepticon scout.

"Bumblebee" is directed by Travis Knight ("Kubo and the Two Strings", "Coraline") and written by Christina Hodson and Kelly Fremon Craig. Michael Bay, who directed the five "Transformers" films so far, serves as producer along with Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.

The live-action adventure sci-fi film is set to debut December 21 in the United States.
