The former 'Charmed' star responds to the 72-year-old British actress' comments in which she says that female celebrities are sending 'confusing' messages to men by the sexy way they dress.

AceShowbiz - Rose McGowan has dismissed Maureen Lipman's assertion that female celebrities are sending "confusing" messages to men by the sexy way they dress.

The 72-year-old British actress was recently asked about the #MeToo movement in an interview with the Radio Times magazine and said that when stars dress "a bit like a prostitute would have dressed" for red carpet events they are sending mixed messages to the opposite sex.

The former "Charmed" actress and outspoken figure in the #MeToo movement appeared on U.K. show "Good Morning Britain" on Tuesday, September 03 and was asked to comment on Lipman's words, and she made it clear that she disagreed with the sentiment.

"I've heard that same argument for what, 5,000 million years now," she responded. "MeToo is not just for women, I've had so many men share their stories of abuse with me... it's never happened before in history and people are freaking out and trying to analyse it and crunch the data and all this and it's like, let it breathe... let people breathe and have their voice."

"Honestly, if I feel like walking down the street naked, nobody has the right to rape me... Everybody has the sovereign right to their body."

The actress is set to receive the Inspiration Award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards on Wednesday for coming forward with sexual assault allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein, accusations he has denied, being at the forefront of the #MeToo campaign and for lifting the lid on what Hollywood is like.

In her original interview, Maureen told the Radio Times, "Young female pop stars today, for example, are saying: 'It's my body, and I'm empowered to show it to you.' But then: 'Don't touch it, don't come near it, don't flirt with it.' And that is a bit of a shame because flirting is some of the best fun you've ever had in your life.

"We're batting our eyelids and clenching our teeth at the same time. And that is very confusing."

"The Pianist" star, who is gearing up to appear on U.K. soap "Coronation Street", added that the movement was going too far and was just a knee-jerk reaction to the offences committed by late entertainer Jimmy Savile, which came to light in 2012.
