It is not known why the film has been pulled, but the news comes less than month after the actor is accused of assault and battery on the set.

AceShowbiz - Johnny Depp's much-anticipated movie about the murder of rap star Notorious B.I.G. has been pulled from the autumn release schedule.

"City of Lies", which also stars Forest Whitaker, was set to hit cinemas on September 7 - the 46th birthday of the slain rap star, who lost his life in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997.

Depp's new film, directed by Brad Furman, chronicles the investigation into his murder.

It is not known why the film has been pulled, but the news comes less than month after a location manager sued Depp, accusing the film star of assault and battery on the set in April, 2017.

Gregg Brooks claims Depp lashed out at him after revealing a night shoot was running late. Furman and producers Miriam Segal, Good Film Productions and Depp's Infinitum Nihil have also been named as defendants.

Brooks is seeking damages for a hostile work environment and wrongful termination.

In the film, Depp plays real-life Los Angeles detective Russell Poole, who headed the investigation into the rapper's death.
