The singer and his wife allegedly fail to pay $47,500 in rent on their New Jersey mansion.

AceShowbiz - R&B singer Mario Winans is facing a lawsuit over unpaid rent.

The I Don't Wanna Know star and his wife Joy Ant are being sued by bosses at Premier Developers LLC for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing for allegedly failing to pay $47,500 (£36,200) in rent on their New Jersey mansion.

According to Bossip, the couple agreed to pay $8,500 (£6,500)-a-month for the Fort Lee home in 2009, and then agreed to a rent increase to monthly payments of $9,200 (£7,000) in 2010 and $11,000 (£8,400) in 2013.

However, after the most recent increase, Winans and Ant reportedly began to fall behind on their cheques, leading them to be evicted in 2015. It is unclear what damages landlords are seeking.

The lawsuit isn't the only financial woe for the singer - earlier this year, he was reportedly hit with a $435,000 (£331,900) judgment in his tax fraud case after pleading guilty to one count of failure to file taxes as part of a plea deal. Winans was sentenced to five years probation, 500 hours of community service, and mental health treatment. He was also ordered to pay $435,000 in restitution.

Last September (17), the singer was also arrested for failing to pay over $178,000 (£135,800) in child support. He was subsequently released on $10,000 (£7,600) bail, which went towards his child support arrears, and he was granted a week to pay the remaining $170,000 (£129,700). He did not make the payment and arrest warrants were issued in November and December (17).
