The decision to postpone the festival was made due to 'the ill-health of key personnel at the local promoter, Manchester-based Livewire Events Ltd.'

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey's planned performance at England's Livewire Festival will no longer take place after the event got cancelled.

Fans of the superstar have been left disappointed with news that the Blackpool festival has been scrapped for this year.

In a statement posted on the Livewire Festival Facebook page, a representative explained why the gig, scheduled for August 24, had been pulled.

"Blackpool's Livewire Festival, which was due to take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, will be postponed to 2019," the post reads. "A spokesperson for Livewire confirmed that the decision was made due to the ill-health of key personnel at the local promoter, Manchester-based Livewire Events Ltd

"Discussions are currently underway with some of the artists' representatives to determine participation in Livewire 2019."

Ticket holders have been advised they can seek a refund from point of purchase.

Matt Goss and Boyz II Men were also scheduled to perform.

Mariah recently made a glittering return to Las Vegas, kicking off her "The Butterfly Returns" show, at The Colosseum inside Caesars Palace, last week (ends July 08), a year after her previous residency, "#1" to "Infinity", came to an end.
