The Sunday, June 10 episode of the series proved that Colman Domingo wasn't kidding when he said the midseason finale 'would change the course of the show forever.'

AceShowbiz - "Fear the Walking Dead" wrapped up its midseason in a heartwrenching finale on Sunday, June 10. The spin-off of AMC's hit "The Walking Dead" revealed fans' burning question about Madison's (Kim Dickens) fate in the now timeline.

[SPOILER ALERT!] The Sunday episode proved that star Colman Domingo wasn't kidding when he warned fans that the midseason finale "would change the course of the show forever." It turned out the episode featured a shocking move of it killing off its lead character, Madison.

Fans learned from Alicia, Strand and Luciana that Madison never made it to the present timeline. She died during the Vultures' zombie assault. She sacrificed herself by leading the walkers back into the stadium and then locking herself in as a way to allow others to escape.

With her death, it means that Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) is the only remaining character that survives the show from the beginning of the series. Her brother Nick (Frank Dillane) died earlier in the current season 4. Meanwhile, Madison's husband was killed off back in season 3.

Kim took to her Instagram account to bid farewell to fans. "It's been an honor to play such a strong, badass, empowered, fierce leader," she wrote alongside of her donning a white tee that has "Strong Female Lead" written in red. "I'll miss playing Madison Clark but she will always be with me (because it's me). Thank y’all for watching."

The cast later also addressed Kim's exit on live after-show "Talking Dead". "We found out before production had started. For all of us it was very devastating obviously, you know, we're such a tight knit family, we've just become so important in each others' lives," Alycia said. "For me, it was definitely difficult. And it was heart wrenching and really hard for us -- we processed this over months, really, all of us, and it's, you know, something we've just had to come to terms with, but at the same time, obviously it does move the story in a really different direction."

"I think Kim Dickens herself is someone who sometimes you need to burn something down to light someone else’s way," Colman added. "And I think Kim Dickens has become such a dear friend and comrade, she's a pro through and through, and she’s also one of the funniest people that I know. This is something a lot of people don't know, she's hilarious."

"And she will always say something and lay us out, because we never see it coming. And constantly, we're like 'I don't see it coming,' and then she keeps hitting us with it," he continued. "And she's got so much humanity and heart and she's been such a ferocious, kind, gentle leader, that's exactly what you need with a show like this."

"Fear the Walking Dead" returns for season 4B this August on AMC.
