Despite their rivalry, Mariah reportedly gets inspired by J. Lo 'to make a change for the better and for her future.'

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey impresses people with her jaw-dropping body transformation after losing 50 pounds. Little did people know, it's fellow singer Jennifer Lopez who inspired Mimi to lose weight despite their rivalry.
"Things were getting a little out of control with her weight and she really didn't like how things were going," a source tells HollywoodLife.com. "And she knows she has an image to uphold, a young boyfriend and, most importantly, kids that are growing up that she wants to be around for in the near and far future. So she decided to make a change for the better and for her future."
The insider adds, "She is close to 50-years-old and instead of letting it all go she sees people like J.Lo thriving at the same age." According to the insider, the "All I Need for Christmas Is You" singer "feels that this new look is going to give her more opportunities with her career and her life and she is determined to keep the pounds off forever!"
Rumor had it, Mimi underwent gastric sleeve surgery late last years. The diva reportedly got the surgery performed by a top surgeon in Beverly Hills, California. "She is already seeing some good results, and she feels a lot better," another source claimed.
The "Touch My Body" hitmaker reportedly decided to go under the knife after she became self-conscious and "extremely insecure" about her weight. "Mariah has always been proud of her curves, but this summer, as her Caesars Palace residency came to a close, and then she went on tour with Lionel Richie, she noticed it became harder to dance," the source claimed. "She was getting a lot more criticism online from body-shamers."
Her body transformation aside, Mariah is planning to hold a new Las Vegas residency in July. Named "The Butterfly Returns", the new residency will be more "intimate." In addition to the new residency, Mariah, who previously revealed her struggle with Bipolar disorder, is also writing and recording music for an upcoming album.
