'Avengers: Infinity War' Still Rules U.K. Box Office

The latest Marvel movie wins the competition in its third week, adding $7.7 million over the weekend in the U.K. alone.

AceShowbiz - Superhero blockbuster "Avengers: Infinity War" has crushed its competition at the U.K. box office for the third week in a row. The Marvel movie, which stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson as members of the Avengers team, made $7.7 million over the weekend (May 11-13).

"Avengers: Infinity War" has now made more than $1.6 billion in cinemas across the world, putting it on course to break the $2 billion barrier - a feat only three movies, "Titanic", "Avatar" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", have managed.

Trailing in its wake at two is the Elton John-produced children's animation "Sherlock Gnomes" after taking $3.4 million, while Amy Schumer's latest comic vehicle, "I Feel Pretty", debuts at three with $1.2 million.

Another comedy, "Life of the Party", is at four with ticket sales worth $810,000. "Breaking In", a thriller starring Gabrielle Union", rounds out the top five with $540,000.
