The 'Baywatch' actor is one of the rumored actors to play the one-time sidekick of Batman in the upcoming standalone movie.

AceShowbiz - A new detail about upcoming "Nightwing" has surfaced online. Thanks to director Chris McKay, fans now know the planned standalone movie won't feature Zac Efron portraying the former Robin a.k.a. Dick Grayson.

The director takes to his Twitter account to answer a fan's question about Zac being cast to play Dick. "hey bighead is this true," a fan asked Chris, to which the latter responds, "Not true."

In addition to "The Greatest Showman" actor, a slew of actors are rumored to be taking the role of Batman's former sidekick. "Arrow" star Colton Haynes previously teased that he might be up for the role, while Dexter Darden suggested that his "The Maze Runner" co-star Dylan O'Brien would be perfect for it. "Supernatural" actor Jared Padalecki also once expressed his interest in the movie.

As for the idea of Zac playing Nightwing, fans seemingly prefer to see someone else suiting up as the character. Chris appears to be genuinely care about finding the right actor for the role as much fans are. He previously held a poll on Twitter, asking fans what they consider to be the most important quality of the character. He also added that he would be holding an open casting call for the role.

However, fans seemingly have to wait a little longer for "Nightwing" to arrive since Chris was previously in talks to helm "Dungeons & Dragons". Should he accept the gig, he might put "Dungeons & Dragons" as a top priority and work on "Nightwing" right after he's done with the former.

Nightwing is the vigilante character adopted by the original Robin, Dick Grayson. Grayson was the youngest member of a family of acrobats known as the Flying Graysons. He was first introduced in "Detective Comics" No. 38 in April 1940. He then became Robin and teamed up with Batman, until he left Batman's fold to become a superhero all his own and became the leader of the Teen Titans.

Written by Bill Dubuque ("The Accountant"), "Nightwing" has yet to have a premiere date.
