AceShowbiz - Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are officially reprising their roles for a third "Bill & Ted" movie. The "John Wick" actor and Winter starred as teen slackers in the cult 1989 film and its subsequent follow-up, "Bill & Ted"'s Bogus Journey, in 1991, and now a third movie, which has been in development for several years - "Bill & Ted Face the Music" - is in pre-production.

Written by the movie franchise's creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the new film will be directed by Dean Parisot, with Steven Soderbergh among the executive producers.

The new film will centre on the titular characters as they attempt to write a song to save the world.

"It's a cautionary tale where 'Bill and Ted' are supposed to save the world," Keanu told WENN last year (17). "We see them a lot older and they haven't saved the world.

"Their children are growing up and their wives are going, 'What the f**k is going on?' 'Bill and Ted' are still trying to write the song to save the world. Then the future comes and says, 'You've got to write the song', and they start beginning facing the music... I still think it's funny to see 'Bill and Ted' at 50; they're not losers, they're just so hopeful."

Reeves is also currently filming the third movie in the John Wick franchise, but he is thrilled to get back to work on "Bill & Ted".

"We couldn't be more excited to get the whole band back together again," Reeves and Winter say in a statement. "Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we've got a dream team!"
