When asked if he will return to Broadway, the actor replies, 'I'm going back because I bought a theatre in my home town,' adding that he has teamed up with producers to develop a new show in Spain.

AceShowbiz - Antonio Banderas is planning his return to the stage with a new theatre venture in his hometown of Malaga, Spain. The "Mask of Zorro" star, who made his Broadway debut in 2003 in the stage show "Nine", has now teamed up with a theater producer to develop shows in his homeland and New York.

"My happiest time in America as a professional was not in front of a camera, it was on the stage," he said on "Live" with Kelly and Ryan on Thursday, April 19. "In a really strange way I'm going back because I bought a theatre in my home town."

Bandera went on revealing that the theater has two spaces, including a 260-seat theater for children. "I'm in the middle of a deal with a producer here for Broadway to actually do the previews in my hometown and test the play and then transfer here to New York," he added.
