John Boyega reveals Daisy Ridley was very excited when she heard from the movie director that their characters would be reunited in the next installment.

AceShowbiz - Finn and Rey might be two of the lead protagonists in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", but they were kept apart in the latest installment of sci-fi film franchise. But fans who were instantly in love with their charm and chemistry in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" should not worry since you will see the pair sharing such moments again in "Star Wars Episode IX".

It's J.J. Abrams, who has signed up to direct the next installment, who shared the news to the Rey depicter, Daisy Ridley. At the annual Awesome Con in Washington D.C., John Boyega, who portrays Finn, confirmed this and revealed that he's as excited as his co-star was when he found out that their characters wouldn't be separated from each other again.

"I haven't read the script for 'Episode 9'. But Daisy did shoot me a text saying, 'Oh my gosh, I just heard from J.J. [Abrams], and we're back together.' That's what I'm really excited about, is Finn and Rey back together again," he gushed.

He went on teasing about the movie, "I think it's going to be all-out war in this final chapter, so we need to be prepared."

Boyega also revealed his hope that the movie would delve into his character's backstory. "One question I've always had as an actor being involved in 'Star Wars' is why Finn decided to defect in the first place. I still don't understand. I would love to know more, to go into his life as a Stormtrooper," he shared.

"The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson previously explained the reason why Finn, Rey and another new protagonist in the franchise, Poe (Oscar Isaac), were not featured altogether in the eighth movie. "[These] guys don't challenge each other," he told /Filmcast in January.

"Star Wars Episode IX" will start shooting in three months with J.J. Abrams returning behind the lens, after handing over the directing duty to Rian Johnson in "The Last Jedi". The ninth installment of the sci-fi film saga is scheduled to be released on December 20, 2019.
