The latest Marvel movie continues to rule the domestic chart after collecting another $65.7M on its third weekend, while the Jennifer Lawrence-starring movie opens with an estimated $17M.

AceShowbiz - "Black Panther" still maintains its reign at the North American box office in its third week. The latest Marvel superhero flick raked in an estimated $65.7 million, which is the third-biggest third weekend of all time, behind "Avatar" ($69 million in 2010) and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ($90 million in 2016).

The latest cume brings the movie's domestic revenue to cross the $500 million mark domestically and its worldwide gross to nearly $900 million. The Ryan Coogler-directed blockbuster starring Chadwick Boseman is now the tenth biggest pic of all time domestically, not adjusted for inflation.

"Disney is clearly on a roll with 'Black Panther' showing incredible strength as it posts the third biggest third-weekend gross of all time," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore, adding, "and most notably becomes the 10th highest grossing movie of all time in North America after just 17 days in theaters."

Two new releases this week hardly challenged "Black Panther" at the chart. Jennifer Lawrence-starring R-rated spy movie "Red Sparrow" debuted at No. 2 with an estimated $17 million from 3,056 theaters. Despite the lukewarm reception, the movie earned double than her last film "mother!" opening revenue and opened ahead of her sci-fi romance "Passengers (2016)" ($14 million).

"Death Wish", a remake of the 1974 revenge thriller starring Bruce Willis, opened to approximately $13 million and placed third. Dergarabedian said of the two newcomers' arrivals, "Both newcomers performed to expectations but had to compete in a marketplace totally dominated by 'Black Panther'."

"Game Night" dropped two spots to No. 4 with additional $10.7 million in its second week. "Peter Rabbit" slipped from No. 3 to No. 5 with an estimated $10 million, down just 21.6|percent| from last week.

Next week, another Disney movie, "A Wrinkle in Time", is predicted to take over the throne from "Black Panther". Dergarabedian said, "Disney wins no matter how you slice it with that film expected to have a strong debut as 'Black Panther' continues to draw big crowds."
