Movie

The movie starring Alden Ehrenreich as young Han Solo will open in theaters on May 25 nationwide.

AceShowbiz - After being shrouded in secrecy for months, the official plot synopsis of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" has finally been released by Lucasfilm. Confirming previous reports, the movie will track young Han Solo in his journey to become the smuggler we've known in the "Star Wars" films and his fateful meeting with Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenob in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

This is the official description of the film according to the studio, "Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in 'Solo: A Star Wars Story', an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga's most unlikely heroes."

Alden Ehrenreich is cast as young Han Solo, with Joonas Suotamo reprising his "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" role as Chewbacca. Donald Glover takes on the role of Han's friend Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke is cast as a new character named Kira, while Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, Warwick Davis, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Ian Kenny play other supporting roles.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were initially tapped to direct the movie, but the pair left the project in June after reportedly being fired over "creative differences" with Lucasfilm. Ron Howard later took over the directing duty and allegedly had to reshoot "nearly all" of the film, doubling its budget.

The film is set to open in theaters across the United States on May 25. Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan wrote the script.
