The emergency crew member says 'the place was filled with smoke' when they opened the door and they had to let out the smoke before searching for the patient.

AceShowbiz - The first responder who found Jonghyun at the residential hotel has shared details of his condition when he was found unconscious on Monday, December 18. In an interview with KBS2's "Entertainment Weekly", paramedic Kim Hui Seung described the situation of the place as well.

"The place was filled with smoke," the emergency crew member said. "We searched for the patient after letting out the smoke and he was found lying next to the bed. He already had no movements or heartbeat when we arrived."

Jonghyun was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police believe he died from carbon monoxide poisoning as they found coal briquettes burnt on a frying pan upon arriving at the place.

In his final text message to his sister, he reportedly wrote, "It's been hard. Let me go. Tell me I've worked hard. This is my farewell." He also left a suicide letter to his friend Dear Cloud's Nine9, in which he detailed his struggles with depression. Another friend said the root of Jonghyun's struggle was music.

His funeral took place on December 21, with family, friends, fellow S.M. artists and fans sending him off. His SHINee groupmate Minho led the procession with his sister, while other members, Onew, Key and Taemin, were joined by Super Junior's Leeteuk, Lee Donghae and Eunhyuk as the pallbearers.

Onew recently updated his Instagram account with his first post in five months in the wake of his friend's sudden passing. He shared words of encouragement, writing, "It does not matter who you are or what you do. However, please remember one thing. There is one person somewhere who loves you more than you love yourself. I will also support you. I love you." His post seemed to be addressed to those who are in pain and need support.

Key, Girls' Generation's Seohyun and Sooyoung, Super Junior's Yesung, BoA and f(x)'s Amber also took to social media to pay tribute to the late singer. Meanwhile, EXO and Taeyeon shared messages to the "She Is" singer at the concerts.
