'Star Wars: The Last Jedi': Did Adam Driver Just Spoil Rey's Parentage?
Movie

The Kylo Ren depicter let slip a big secret about Rey's [Daisy Ridley] parentage in the upcoming sci-fi flick in a new interview with GQ magazine.

AceShowbiz - Less than two months away from the release of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", star Adam Driver has let slip a major spoiler for the film. When discussing his arc in the eighth "Star Wars" movie with GQ, the Kylo Ren depicter talked about his character's rivalry with Rey [Daisy Ridley] and in doing so he might have spoiled the identities of her parents.

Adam first talked about Kylo's personality and how the villain, born Ben Solo, might be pretending to be someone he's not. "I remember the initial conversations about having things 'skinned', peeling away layers to evolve into other people, and the person Kylo's pretending to be on the outside is not who he is," he said.

"He's a vulnerable kid who doesn't know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he's playing a role," continued the 33-year-old actor. "JJ [Abrams] had that idea initially and I think Rian [Johnson] took it to the next level."

When speaking about Rey, Adam said, "You have, also, [SPOILER ALERT!] the hidden identity of this princess who's hiding who she really is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices," seemingly suggesting that Rey is actually a secret princess.

There are some possibilities when it comes to Rey's royal origins. It's possible that Adam hints that Rey is former Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) daughter, which makes Rey Kylo's sister. It's also possible that Rey may be a Palpatine, if it turns out she's neither a Skywalker nor an Organa. Either way, fans will learn something about it when the film arrives in theaters across the nation on December 15.

In "The Last Jedi", having taken her first steps into a larger world in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", Rey continues her epic journey with Finn (John Boyega), Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in the next chapter of the saga. Written and directed by Ryan Johnson, the film also sees the return of Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie.
