AceShowbiz - A new photo featuring Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" has been unleashed. The 50-year-old actress herself shared the photo, which showed her in full costume as the purple-haired officer of the Resistance, when she appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday, October 18.

Dern remained tight-lipped about exact details of her character during the show, but she did reveal to host Ellen DeGeneres that working on the latest "Star Wars" movie was "the greatest experience of my life," before adding, "See, I am in 'Star Wars'! I told you guys!"

"I felt like I was seven years old again," Dern admitted. The actress then did let slip that her character Holdo would use a gun at some point. "Rian Johnson [director] keeps telling this embarrassing story about how when he got in the editing room - and I do have weaponry in a scene - he literally heard me making sounds," she laughed.

"Because I'd only done it in my childhood. And on camera, you hear me going, 'pew, pew, pew,' it's so embarrassing!" she shared. But the 2-time Oscar nominee admitted she "was so excited to be there, I really did think I was at play. It was crazy."

In addition to Dern, new cast members include Kelly Marie Tran and Benicio Del Toro. They join the returning cast, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis and Anthony Daniels. Additionally, the upcoming movie marks the late Carrie Fisher's final appearance as General Leia.

Written and directed by Ryan Johnson, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is scheduled to arrive in theaters across the nation on December 15, just in time for this year's Christmas. Having taken her first steps into a larger world in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", Rey (Ridley) continues her epic journey with Finn (Boyega), Poe (Isaac) and Luke Skywalker (Hamill) in the next chapter of the saga.
