The 2-minute video sees Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) looking for William while trying to stop someone from releasing 'hell on Earth.'

AceShowbiz - FOX released the first trailer for upcoming season 11 of "The X-Files" at New York Comic-Con on Sunday, October 8. The 2-minute video sees Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) looking for William, the son Scully shares with Mulder whom she gave up for adoption 15 years ago, while trying to stop someone from releasing "hell on Earth."

Finding William seemingly leads the two to an intense journey, which involves running in a cemetery, table sliding and gun shooting. "I have to find our son!" insists Scully, who later is seen meeting someone she doesn't trust for a help.

An intriguing scene later flickers on the screen, featuring Scully in a hospital bed. "You have to find him and you have to stop him before he releases hell on Earth," she begs Mulder. Is she talking about William B. Davis' Cigarette Smoking Man or their missing son? That remains to be seen. The trailer concludes with Scully having a scary encounter with what looks like a monster.

Fans were physced when FOX announced that the sci-fi would return for season 11, but it seems like we won't be seeing Anderson reprising her role beyond season 11. During an interview with Screen Rant on Sunday, the actress hinted season 11 would be her last season on the series.

"No, no. I think this will be it for me," she said when asked if she's still open to continuing on beyond this season. As for why she decided to do this season, the actress said that was because season 10 finale "felt like it wasn't over." She explained, "It didn't feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that."

During the interview, Anderson also opened up about how much she would miss her character on the series. "I don't know," she said. "You may need to talk to me in a few years about that once I finally shut the door. You know, there's always been this 'maybe one more' thing hanging over, but when the door is finally shut, call me up and ask me that question again."

In response to the report, FOX stated that Anderson "has not commented on returning as it's premature in that she is currently filming the new event series."
