Katy Perry Shares Epic Throwback Photo of Her 13-Year-Old Self
Celebrity

The 32-year-old singer has taken to Instagram to share a throwback photo of herself when she was just a normal teenager who tried to be a pop star.

AceShowbiz - Katy Perry is embracing her awkward teenage life. The songstress has thrown it all back to nearly 20 years ago by sharing an Instagram pic of her 13-year-old self in what appeared to be a recording studio. As any other teenagers who tried to break through the music industry, the fresh-faced Katy looked in high spirits as she flashed a big smile to the camera.

She looked almost unrecognizable with her shoulder-length blonde hair and sun-kissed skin. Sporting a plain gray T-shirt, trendy jeans and a spotted cream belt, the 13-year-old budding star looked beautiful as she posed behind a microphone in the snap which she captioned with "13 year old me. Wannabe popstar."

Fans soon gushed over the throwback pic. "Oml it doesn't even look like you but you are pretty," a fan wrote in the comment section, while another remarked, "Now look fullbloom popsinger." Similarly, another fan noted that Katy was "innocent and a dreamer! Perfect role model for all young girls with dreams!"

Back when she was thirteen years old, Katy left her home in Santa Barbara to record a gospel album in Nashville. After discovering Queen and their iconic vocalist Freddie Mercury, 17-year-old Katy moved to Los Angeles to pursue career she wanted in pop music. "I had never heard such an imaginative explanation of how to live," she previously recalled. "That was my first perspective on that world, and I just loved it. I felt so free and accepted."

The "Chained to the Rhythm" hitmaker has spoken openly about being raised by devout Christian family and revealed that they found it difficult to accept her provocative pop persona. "I was really disheartened for a while; it just brought up a lot of trauma for me," she shared. "Misogyny and sexism were in my childhood: I have an issue with suppressive males and not being seen as equal."

With her new album "Witness", Katy reflected on her liberation in all aspects of her life. "I feel 360-degrees liberated all around," she recently revealed. "Whether it's politically, mentally, spiritually, sexually. I feel liberated from all the things that don't serve me. I'm surrendering and embracing my 30s. You couldn't give me anything to go back to my 20s."
