Beyonce Visits Hurricane Harvey Victims in Houston and Helps Serve Food

Beyonce Knowles, bandmate Michelle Williams and mother Tina Knowles help distribute food to the evacuees at St. John's church.

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles lent a helping hand in Houston following Hurricane Harvey that ravaged the city and its surrounding areas. The R&B singer visited the victims that took shelter at St. John's church. She delivered a heartfelt speech and helped distribute food to the evacuees.

Queen Bey was joined by her Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams (II) and mother Tina Knowles during her Houston visit. According to an eyewitness on Instagram, Michelle was at the beginning of line serving chicken and Beyonce was on green beans.

Wow !! How great was this day ? this is our third stop first we went to St. John's and along with Pastor Rudy . Beyonce Sponsored a luncheon for 400 folks some of the people affected by harvey and had a short program motivation to try tol encourage them and love on them. Second stop we went to the George R Brown convention center , where we talk to some of the residents about the needs and toured the facility Third stop we traveled to accompany one of lHouston's Best real life Heroes Trae That Truth to serve food to the residents of this complex ! This man delivers supplies that were donated by generous people like you . It was fun unloading the truck and organizing the sizes . Beyonce was also reportedly accompany by her 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. The singer predged to aid the Houston community through her BeyGood foundation. She teamed up with Bread of Life Harvey Relief Fund.

"This today is a celebration of survival," Beyonce told the crowd during her speech. "Y'all are my family. Houston is my home. I thank God that y'all are safe, that your children are safe. The things that really matter are your health and your children, and your family and your life."

"I just want to say that I'm home. This church is my home. I was maybe nine or 10 years old the first time I sat where my daughter's sitting. I sang my first solo here," she continued before turning to her pastor Rudy Rasmus, "I just want to thank you for lifting my family. For praying for me. And for being such an incredible example of what life and love is."

On another side of the city, Janet Jackson met Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner. They visited evacuees who were staying at the George R. Brown Convention Center. "As we visit shelters here in Houston, our thoughts are with those affected by the e.quake in Mexico, H.Irma & storms in S. Asia & Africa," she posted on Instagram. "Can't give up hope now. Let's weather the storm together."

Janet has just kicked off her new tour in Louisiana. She is scheduled to perform at Toyota Center in Houston on September 9.
