The Emmy-winning series starring Jeffrey Tambor will return for a fifth season in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Looks like there will be more the Pfeffermans gatherings. "Transparent" has scored a renewal for a fifth season, ahead of its fourth season premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The Emmy-winning comedy series will return for a new season in 2018.

"We are extremely grateful to Amazon Studios for their continued trust and support and to our audience for their warm embrace of the Pfeffermans," says series creator Jill Soloway in a statement in response to the new season pickup. "We look forward to another season of comedy and drama, love and weirdness, God and sex - in the service of community and in pursuit of peace, joy, freedom, and human rights for all."

"Over the past few seasons the Pfeffermans have gone across the world, back in time and made many, many trips to the deli," Joe Lewis, head of comedy, drama and VR for Amazon Studios, adds. "We're so excited to see what magic Jill and the incredible team bring to this always groundbreaking series in season five."

Amazon says the show's core cast members, including Jeffrey Tambor, Judith Light, Gaby Hoffmann, Jay Duplass and Amy Landecker, will all be back.

The show's fifth season renewal isn't a big surprise since the comedy has been a critics' darling, earning multiple Emmy nominations and winning eight of them, including two Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Awards for Jeffrey Tambor.

The comedy series revolves around a Los Angeles family and their lives following the discovery that the person they knew as their father Mort (Tambor) is transgender.

The fourth season will premiere September 22 on Amazon. According to the official logline, in season 4 the Pfeffermans go on a spiritual and political journey as they dig deep into their family’s history. Maura heads to Israel to speak at a conference and makes a startling discovery. Before long the rest of the family joins her for an explosive adventure. Adrift in the desert, Maura, Ali (Gaby Hoffmann), Sarah (Amy Landecker), Josh (Jay Duplass) and Shelly (Judith Light) ultimately set off on their own paths to find acceptance, love and truth.
