AceShowbiz - CBS is stepping into the game of singing competition show. The network is planning to go head-to-head with ABC's "American Idol", NBC's "The Voice" and FOX's "The Four" as it is reportedly developing a singing competition series with manager and producer Scooter Braun.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is still in the early stages. While it is unclear whether the planned series is based on an original idea or an existing format, sources claim it is most likely the latter. It also remains to be seen whether Braun will only serve as an executive producer or have an on-screen role.

The plan comes after CBS was offered to revive "American Idol" but declined due to the insane price it required. "The price is so expensive, you need a 35 share to break even. The economics made no sense for us," CBS Corp. chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves said back in May.

Should the project move forward, it will expand Braun's collaboration with the network as he serves as an executive produce on "Scorpion". As a manager, Braun launched the careers of the likes Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen.
