AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus was nowhere to be seen at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards despite the fact that she would be honored with the top prize, the Ultimate Choice Award. It would've marked her first appearance at the show since 2013.
Miley's absence was without prior announcement as the official TCAs account made it seem like she already arrived. "@MileyCyrus is in the HOUSE! We will see you at 8PM EST TONIGHT for #TeenChoice!" it tweeted on Sunday, August 13.
But what was even more confusing was her replacement. Victoria Justice was on hand to break the news, saying, "Unfortunately, last minute, Miley Cyrus couldn't make it. But you know who's here? Jake Paul over at Teen Fest." The show then cut to the YouTube personality and it left viewers disappointed.
" 'unfortunately, miley cyrus couldn't make it... but here's jake paul!' what a disappointing combination of words #teenchoice," one tweeted. Another similarly reacted, "BRUH THE TEEN CHOICE AWARDS JUST SAID MILEY CYRUS COULDNT MAKE IT SO HERES JAKE PAUL PUT ME IN MY GRAVE."

Fortunately, Miley has explained her absence in an Instagram post during the broadcast. "To my dearest fans & all of those watching @teenchoicefox ! I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for presenting me with #TheUltimateChoiceAward !" she wrote.
Citing scheduling issues as the reason why she missed the event, she added, "I am beyond bummed I couldn't make it to the show as I had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor! I created an unrealistic schedule for myself which leads me to this announcement!"
The 24-year-old singer also announced that her new single "Younger Now" along with its music video will arrive this Friday, August 18. "I am sooooooo EXCITED to share it with all of you!" she wrote.
