Luis and Daddy released the original version of "Despacito" in January, before unveiling the remix with Justin in April. The song is currently No. 1 in the U.S., U.K. and Australia, surpasses the previous record holder "Sorry" by Justin and its various remixes, which has clocked up more than 4.38 billion combined plays, according to Universal Music Group.

Just hours after its released on January 13, "Despacito" set a new record on Vevo by becoming the Spanish-language video with the most views in 24 hours, earning 5.4 million hits. In just 22 days, Another the video clip became the fastest Spanish-language video to reach 200 million views. It's also the fastest music video ever to reach 2 billion views in 154 days.

Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge congratulated Luis and everyone who helped make the record a hit.
