AceShowbiz - Alice Braga has landed a role in "X-Men: The New Mutants". The star of USA's "Queen of the South" is cast as Dr. Cecilia Reyes, which was previously set to be portrayed by Rosario Dawson, The Hollywood Reporter reports. The reason of Dawson's departure is unclear.

"New Mutants" has previously tapped Maisie Williams to play Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie or Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar, and Henry Zaga to portray Sunspot.

The "X-Men" spin-off will reportedly be based on the classic "Demon Bear" storyline that has Moonstar as a central character. A Native American telepath, she's originally codenamed Psyche and later Mirage.
