L.A. to Honor Adam West With Bat-Signal Over City

Los Angeles is set to pay a special tribute to the 'Batman' actor by lighting Bat-Signal over the city at Los Angeles City Hall at 9 P.M on Thursday, June 15.

AceShowbiz - Attention citizens! Los Angeles is set to pay tribute to the late Adam West, the iconic actor who played Batman in the 1960s live-action TV series. The city will light the Bat-Signal this Thursday night, June 15 to honor the late actor who died last week.

Mayor Eric Garcetti took to Twitter to share the plan of the special tribute. "Join us at City Hall to pay tribute to Hollywood legend Adam West & light the bat-signal for the #BrightKnight," wrote the account. Hosted by the mayor and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, the DC Comics collaborative event will feature "surprise Bat-guests" and take place at Los Angeles City Hall at 9 P.M

In the comics, The Bat-signal was used by the fictitious Gotham City Police Department to summon the superhero when his help is needed. It will be projected onto the tower of Los Angeles City Hall located at 200 N. Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles.

Fans are encouraged to wear their best Caped Crusader costumes and utility belts. For those who aren't able to attend the event, Adam's family encourages donations to the Adam West Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Camp Rainbow Gold.

Adam passed away at 88 after battling with leukemia on Friday night, June 9 in Los Angeles, surrounded by his family. "It's with great sadness that we are sharing this news...Adam West passed away peacefully last night after a short but brave battle with leukemia. He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. There are no words to describe how much we'll miss him. We know you'll miss him too and we want you to know how much your love and support meant to him throughout the years. Hug your loved ones today - The West Family," his family announced on Facebook.
