Megyn Kelly Dropped as Host of Sandy Hook Gala After Alex Jones Interview: I'm Disappointed

Following her interview with the conspiration theorist, who dubbed the 2012 school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary hoax, Megyn is dropped as the emcee of annual Sandy Hook Promise Gala.

AceShowbiz - Megyn Kelly's interview with Inforwars' Alex Jones for "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly" won't air until Sunday, June 18, but she has already faced repercussions. Following her interview with the conspiracy theorist, the news anchor was fired as the emcee of annual Sandy Hook Promise Gala on June 14 in Washington D.C. Alex previously dubbed the 2012 school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary, which left 20 first-graders and six adults dead, a government hoax.

"This decision was spurred by NBC's planned broadcast of Kelly's interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who believes the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, was a hoax," Sandy Hook Promise, a leading gun violence prevention organization, said in a statement on Monday, June 12.

"Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host. It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview," said Nicole Hockley, co-Founder and Managing Director.

Of the organization's decision to drop her as the gala host, Megyn stated in a statement that she was "of course disappointed." She went on saying, "I find Alex Jones's suggestion on that Sandy Hook was 'a hoax' as a personally revolting as every rational person does," before adding that the goal of the interview was to "discuss the considerable falsehoods he promoted with near impunity."

The criticism was also coming from Alex himself. He wrote on Monday that he asked Megyn to "cancel the airing of our interview for misrepresenting my views on Sandy Hook." J.P. Morgan Chase also pulled their advertisements from the network until after Kelly's interview with Jones airs.

Previously, Megyn posted a clip from the episode on her Twitter account. "Next Sunday, I sit down with conservative radio host @RealAlexJones to discuss controversies and conspiracies #SundayNight June 18 on NBC," she touted.
