The 23-year-old singer has kicked off his solo career by releasing the super catchy pop-rap track which is expected to appear on his debut solo album.
The release of Liam Payne's debut solo single "Strip That Down" featuring Quavo of Migos certainly marks a new era where each member of One Direction has launched a solo project. While Harry Styles is a rock-ballad king, Niall Horan is in love with folk music and Louis Tomlinson is into EDM bop beats, Liam begs to differ, as "Strip That Down" is more of a pop-rap party anthem.
Co-written by Ed Sheeran, the new track has undoubtedly super catchy tunes and lyrics, with a series of "yeah-yeah-yeah" on the hook. Liam sings about a girl who grabs his attention, while Quavo, who gets a slick verse in the song, helps turn the song into a perfect dance hall banger.
"You know, I love it, when the music's loud/ But c'mon, strip that down for me, baby/ Now there's a lot of people in the crowd/ But only you can dance with me/ So put your hands on my body/ And swing that round for me, baby/ You know, I love it when the music's loud/ But c'mon, strip that down for me/ Oh, strip that down, girl," Liam rhymes on the chorus.
Meanwhile, Quavo raps, "She gon' strip it down for a thug, yeah/ Word around town, she got the buzz/ Five shots in, she in love now/ I promise, when we pull up, shut the club down/ I took her from her man, don't nobody know/ If you brought the CL, better drive slow/ She know how to make me feel with my eyes closed/ Anything goes down with the Huncho."
Today is a crazy day indeed. Following the release of Iggy Azalea's new song with Anitta, "Switch" and Camila Cabello's debut solo single "Crying in the Club" earlier this day, "Strip That Down" is ready to compete with the other songs on music chart, including with yesterday-released Selena Gomez's "Bad Liar". Although, judging from the super catchy music, it looks like Liam doesn't have to be so worried.
