Several people speculate that McAvoy will reprise his role as Professor Charles Xavier in 'New Mutants' and an update about the matter has emerged.

AceShowbiz - Following recent announcement that Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams will star in "X-Men: The New Mutants", an "X-Men"-related report emerges. The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit, who announced the news about Taylor-Joy and Williams' castings, has tweeted an update about James McAvoy, who portrayed Professor Charles Xavier in "X-Men: First Class", "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: Apocalypse".

Despite people speculating that McAvoy will reprise his role as Professor X for the "X-Men" spin-off, Kit reports that the actor won't appear in the film. "On 'NEW MUTANTS': other rumored castings - James McAvoy as Prof X - not true. He is not in movie, per sources," writes Kit on his Twitter account.

Another actor who was speculated to appear in "New Mutants" was Nat Wolff, whom people assumed would play Cannonball. But judging from Kit's tweet, it seemed like it wouldn't happen either. "On #NewMutants: other rumored casting - Nat Wolff as Canonball - not happening either," Kit writes.

McAvoy, though, has been signed on to return for "X-Men: Dark Phoenix". Report said that it would be the last "X-Men" film left on his contract, but fans still hope that he will make appearance in other "X-Men" movies.

In "New Mutants", Taylor-Joy will play Magik, a sorcerer who uses teleportation discs to travel. She is also the sister of Colossus, a mutant who appeared in "Deadpool". Meanwhile, Williams will play Wolfsbane, "a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf."

While it's still a long way to go before we can see Taylor-Joy and Williams in their costume, a comic book artist has shared a fan art which features the two actresses as their respective characters.

"New Mutants", which is the first "X-Men" comics spin-off, was created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod. "New Mutants" movie will center on the adventures of a group of teens with different nationalities, which include Native American Danielle Moonstar, Scots Wolfsbane, Brazilian Sunspot, a Kentuckian code-named Cannonball and Russian Magik. There will also be an alien named Warlock in the mix.
