AceShowbiz - "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" was announced as Movie of the Year at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. The Disney live-action adaptation won the top film honor against fellow nominees that included "Logan", "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", "Get Out" and "The Edge of Seventeen" at the Sunday night ceremony.

Lead actress Emma Watson, who won Best Actor in a Movie earlier in the evening, and her co-star Josh Gad invited director Bill Condon to join them on stage as they accepted the award at the event that took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

"This is so exciting, thank you so much," Condon said. "Thank you to the audience who embraced this movie so much, but especially thank you to the women because women have proven that they're a huge and powerful audience, and it's gonna change the movie business."

Also announced as winner in movie category earlier in the night was Daniel Kaluuya. The 28-year-old British actor won Next Generation for his role in "Get Out", defeating other competitors like Chrissy Metz, Issa Rae, Riz Ahmed and Yara Shahidi.
