The 39-year-old singer took the stage to perform an acoustic cover of the hit song while showcasing his extraordinary skill in playing guitar.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer melted thousands of hearts during Amsterdam stop of his "The Search for Everything World Tour". He surprised the crowds at Ziggo Dome by singing a rendition of Drake's hit song "Passionfruit" onstage. Funnily, Ziggo Dome was also the place where Drake postponed his Amsterdam show last March due to extreme food poisoning.

The singer/guitarist extraordinaire showcased his powerful charisma as he turned the original upbeat song into a romantic ballad. With only acoustic guitar sound as the music, Mayer sang dreamily with his smooth vocal, accompanied by the clapping sound from the audiences.

"Listen, seein' you got ritualistic/ Cleansin' my soul of addiction for now/ 'Cause I'm fallin' apart, yeah/ Tension, between us just like picket fences/ You got issues that I won't mention for now/ 'Cause we're fallin' apart," Mayer crooned on the first verse.

"Passionfruit" is a part of Drake's "playlist project" titled "More Life". He previously said, "It's not an album but it is a body of work I'm creating, just to bridge the gap between my major releases, to keep people excited."

Mayer is set to return to the States in July. He will kick off his North American leg in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 18.
