The AMC series is currently casting actors for recurring roles of Dillon and Abbud, the former of whom may appear in subsequent seasons.

AceShowbiz - Those suffering from "The Walking Dead" withdrawal may be dying to get tidbits of the upcoming season. To help you bear the wait, a new report has emerged, revealing two new characters in the eighth season.

According to TVLine, the hit zombie series is currently casting two new recurring good guys. One is named Dillon, who is described as "a sexy, blue-collar twentysomething whose survival skills include sarcasm." The other is named Abbud, who is "an innately likable Muslim American whose nerves are, let's say, jangled, because he’s flown solo for too long in zombieland."

The former is likely to appear in future seasons since the casting notice hints that the actor chosen for the role of Dillon might get picked up for subsequent seasons. There are no characters in the comic books that go by the name of Dillon or Abbud, so it's possible that the roles will be a combination of a few names in the source material.

Meanwhile, showrunner Scott Gimple has revealed the differences that will be seen in season 8. There's a complaint that season 7 slowed down its story to extend the Negan storyline and delay the showdown. Season 8 will jump right in.

"The turn of the story is really going to dictate the structure of the story and the speed of the story," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "The things that they are getting into demand a more kinetic narrative. The pace is accelerated by virtue of the things that they're up to. Though I don't want to say exactly, anybody who watches the show can extrapolate that they're now into public conflict with the Saviors; the battle lines are drawn. There isn't quite as much time to dig into anything but prosecuting the war."

Gimple added, "It's just where the story is going to. That presents all sorts of narrative and production challenges. We've known we were going this way for a long while; in fact, doing season seven, I remember talking to [writer and exec producer] Angela Kang about the difference between the structure of seasons seven and eight before we started seven."

"The Walking Dead" will return for its eighth season in October on AMC.
