Kendrick Lamar Nabs Third No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With 'DAMN'

'DAMN' bows at No. 1, while John Mayer's 'The Search for Everything' and the soundtrack of 'The Fate of the Furious' debut in the top 10.

AceShowbiz - Kendrick Lamar's latest album "DAMN" blasts to No. 1 in its first week on Billboard 200 chart. The set racked up 603,000 equivalent album units, including 353,000 in traditional album sales in the week ending April 20, according to Nielsen Music. "DAMN" is the follow-up to Lamar's previous chart-topping sets "untitled unmastered." (2016) and "To Pimp a Butterfly" (2015).

With "DAMN" debuting atop the chart, Lamar joins Drake and Future as the only artists whose albums have been at No. 1 in each 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2015, Drake had two No. 1 albums with "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" and a collaborative set with Future, "What a Time to Be Alive". His 2016's effort "Views" and 2017's "More Life" have also debuted atop the chart. Meanwhile, Future led the chart twice in 2015 with "DS2" and "What a Time to Be Alive", once in 2016 with "Evol" and twice in 2017 with "Future" and "HNDRXX".

Trailing behind "DAMN" is John Mayer's "The Search for Everything" which debuts at No. 2 with 132,000 equivalent album units. The set marks Mayer's eighth top 10 following his previous efforts such as "Continuum" (2006), "Paradise Valley" (2013) and more. At No. 3, Drake's "More Life" falls one slot in its fifth week with 87,000 units.

Ed Sheeran's "Divide (division sign)" spends its seventh week on the chart at No. 4 with 66,000 units, while former chart-topper The Chainsmokers' "Memories...Do Not Open" dips to No. 5 in its second week with 61,000 units. At No. 6, the soundtrack of animated movie "Moana" climbs a slot with 50,000 units.

Bruno Mars' "24K Magic" slips to No. 7 with 44,000 units, and Future's self-titled album "Future" climbs to No. 8 with 38,000 units. Other titles making up this week's top 10 are the soundtrack of live-action movie "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" which ascends to No. 9 with a little more than 37,000 and "The Fate of the Furious" soundtrack which lands at No. 10 with 37,000 units in its first week.
