The One Direction star has finally released his much-anticipated debut solo single 'Sign of the Times' which sounds like typical '90s hit songs by David Bowie and Prince.

AceShowbiz - After much anticipation, Harry Styles' fans can finally hear the British heatthrob's debut solo single "Sign of the Times". As promised, it was released on Friday, April 7. Harry's clear vocals with an exceptional rock ballad music are beautifully combined in the nearly-six-minute audio. With the alluring lyrics, the song reminds us of '90s hit songs which last a lifetime.

Although Harry is nervous about fans' reaction, he admits that he is proud of the track he wrote and produced. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, he said, "It's a bit weird, I feel like I've been hibernating for so long now and you hear it in the safety of the studio and now it's time to give birth... it's the song (debut single) I'm most proud of writing."

"Just stop your crying/ It's a sign of the times/ Hope you're wearing your best clothes/ You can't bribe the door on your way to sky/ You look pretty good down here/ But you ain't really good," Harry sings the first verse of "Sign of the Times" with a dreamy voice.

"Sign of the Times" serves as the lead single off Harry's upcoming album. The 23-year-old crooner said of the album, "In the least weird way possible, it's my favorite album to listen to at the moment... I think if you put out something that you don't stand behind and really love... then if it doesn't go well then you could regret not doing what you wanted to do. Whereas if nothing happens with it, I love it you know so I think that's what you should do."

There has been a rumor about the album title following a post shared by Ben Winston on Instagram. When Ben posted "Sign of the Times" artwork, he included hashtag #bullet in the caption, sparking speculations about Harry's upcoming album title. With the release of the track, it has been confirmed that "bullets" is a part of the lyrics instead of an album title.

The One Direction star is a big fan of pop legends like David Bowie and Prince so it is not a surprise that the new track has a very different vibe from contemporary 1D's songs. "I think a lot of people, especially at labels separate it because they work in music that it's a broader understanding of music than people who are listening," he said, before adding, "I think we are all fans of music and I think we made it as the fan... I hope we did a good job but I really like the album so I hope people like it."

Harry has just returned from Scotland to film a music video for "Sign of the Times". He was spotted dangling from a helicopter flying over a large body of water. He is slated to make debut solo performance at "Saturday Night Live" on April 15.
